Former fourth overall pick Seth Jones is on his way to the fourth National Hockey League franchise in his career on Saturday night following a blockbuster trade.

The National Hockey League's trade deadline is less than a week ago and things have heated up on Saturday, with three deals, with Patrik Allvin and the Canucks still deciding which direction they plan on taking.

Chicago Blackhawks trade Seth Jones to Florida Panthers

Just before 5 pm PT, reports were swirling on social media that the Chicago Blackhawks were working hard on a deal with the Florida Panthers that would see Seth Jones head to the Sunshine State.
It didn't take too long before the trade was made official, as Frank Seravalli announced that the Florida Panthers have acquired Seth Jones and a 2026 fourth-round pick from Chicago in exchange for goaltender Spencer Knight and a 2026 first-round pick.
Seravalli added that the Chicago Blackhawks will be retaining $2.5 million annually for the remaining five years of Seth Jones' contract.
"Trade details, per sources:

To #TimeToHunt:
D Seth Jones
2026 4th Round Pick

To #Blackhawks:
2026 1st Round Pick
G Spencer Knight

#Blackhawks retain $2.5 million on Jones for next 5 seasons.

Pick slides to 2027 if Florida doesn't have 2026." Seravalli said.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the first-round pick heading to Chicago is in 2026, will shift to the following year, 2027, if the Florida Panthers end up not having that draft selection, likely due to the possibility of them moving it in another deal over the next 12+ months.
"The condition on the first round pick in the Seth Jones trade: it's a 2026 first going to Chicago but if Florida ends up not having that pick then it moves to a 2027 first round pick which goes to the Blackhawks instead. So Chicago getting either the '26 or '27 first rounder" LeBrun said.
Jones, 30, has skated in 42 games this season for the Chicago Blackhawks where he's registered 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists), 18 penalty minutes and is a minus-18.
As for Spencer Knight, who was selected 13th overall in 2019, he's made 25 appearances for the Florida Panthers in 2024-25 where he has a record of 12-8-1 with a 2.40 goals against average, a .907 save percentage and two shutouts.
