OTHER PIECES SOON TO BE MOVED?
As expected, the veteran defenceman and former Canuck Chris Tanev is a right handed Defenseman that's been garnering lots of interest accross the NHL. The current belief is that his price of acquisition lies somewhere in the range of a 2nd Round Draft Selection.
TWO FRONTRUNNERS ALREADY IDENTIFIED?
Today, on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Eliotte Friedman made an intriguing revelation and pointed out that two team's had been very aggressive and showed a strong will to acquire the veteran.
Patrik Allvin has repeatedly stated that he was constantly looking for ways to improve his line-up and adding an experience and beloved veteran like Tanev could definitely go a long way.
However, acquiring Tanev possibly means trading away Tyler Myers and it's probably where things are getting complicated for the Canucks. Acquiring Tanev would possibly allow Tocchet to split Filip Hronek and Quinn Hughes, meaning the defensive pairing could look something like that:
Hughes - Tanev
Cole - Hronek
Zadorov - Soucy
Could this be a defensive core that takes the Canucks all the way? Should the Canucks pay a bigger price to acquire someone who'd be a better long-term fit?
