The Boston Bruins confirmed today some unfortunate news about former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov and his immediate future with the team.

After what has already been a disappointing year for the Boston Bruins, when Nikita Zadorov signed a six-year, $30 million contract in the offseason after a short tenure with the Vancouver Canucks, no one would have expected this season's outcome.

Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov takes indefinite leave of absence

According to Bruins reporter and The Athletics' Fluto Shinzawa and then a statement issued by head coach Joe Sacco, Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov has flown back to Boston while the team is on their current road trip due to a personal/family matter.
Coach Sacco on Nikita Zadorov: "He won't be available for tonight's game. He had to fly back home to Boston today to attend to a family matter. I don't have any further update as far as when he'll be back or not but he won't be available for tonight's game."
The absence is a major hit as the Bruins have already been without both star defenseman Charlie MacAvoy and Hampus Lindholm, and now will have to go with out their new "Big-Z".
With Zadorov out of action, Bruins defender Parker Wotherspoon jumped up to the top pairing with Henri Jokiharju at the club's morning skate.
Zadorov has appeared in 72 games this season with the Bruins, Zadorov has four goals, 17 points, 135 penalty minutes, 183 hits, and a plus-14 rating. The 2013 first-round pick joined the Bruins this past off-season on a six-year, $30 million contract.
