You are straight up intimidated seeing Z for the first time,» DeBrusk recalled when he appeared on «The Cam & Strick Podcast» on Tuesday. «I remember the first time I saw him on the ice; it was even more intimidating. We had a one-on-one drill, and I was like, 'Oh my God, I don't even know how to attack this guy right now.' It's like I never seen anything like (him) at the time, but you get used to it as time goes on.»
DeBrusk explained that Chara's physical presence and storied NHL career made him a formidable figure on the ice. Chara's blend of physicality, experience, and demeanour made him a nightmare for opponents throughout his career. Despite this intimidating presence, DeBrusk quickly added that Chara became one of the best teammates in the locker room, known for his great personality.
It's no surprise players found Chara intimidating, given his dominance on the ice and his towering stature. Yet, off the ice, his character made him a beloved figure among his teammates.
