Earlier this week, after what felt like months of speculation, the Vancouver Canucks decided to move on from forward Andrei Kuzmenko, dealing him in a big package to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Elias Lindholm.

Kuzmenko's time with the Canucks felt like it was coming to an end over the last little while. His production this season wasn't up to par and he wasn't playing the way he was last season, he found himself in the press box on several occasions as well.

For the first time since the trade earlier this week, Andrei Kuzmenko has spoken to the media and gave an interview for the Calgary Flames' official website.

"I'm excited to come to Calgary and join the Flames," said Kuzmenko. "It's a great opportunity for me to come to a new team, a new city and contribute to the offence."

He added, "My shot is a strength, I like to be creative in the offensive zone. I feel like I will also be able to help the powerplay and I'm looking forward to that opportunity."

Kuzmenko finished his time in Vancouver with 95 points (47 goals, 48 assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a plus-eight in 124 games. He'll make his return to Vancouver on March 23rd at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET.
