One week ago, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin went out and made a deal to acquire defenceman Nikita Zadorov from the Calgary Flames.

Zadorov's time with Calgary was coming to a close, it was just a matter of when a deal was going to be pulled off and to where he was heading to.

During his most recent 32 Thoughts article, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman shared that the one reason the Flames moved on from Zadorov was because they had a difference of opinion on term on his next contract.

"23. Zadorov said after his trade there never was a contract offer from the Flames. From what I understand, it was pretty clear Calgary and Zadorov had different opinions on term. The Flames were going to be careful and the player wanted length. It was a philosophical disagreement from the start."

Zadorov, has skated in two games for the Canucks since his trade last Thursday, tallying one assist, no penalty minutes and is a plus-one.

The 28-year-old Moscow native is going to be a big addition for the Canucks' blue line for the remainder of the season as they look to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2020 and it'll be interesting to see if the team will sign him to a contract extension, depending on how things go, of course.
