Every single season, players around the National Hockey League may have to deal with trade rumors regarding them for a multitude of different reasons.
Some of those reasons may include that they're not playing well, the team wants to go in a different direction, the team needs to move some money, a team might not want to lose a pending free agent for nothing in the summer, etc.
Due to their inconsistent play this season, the Vancouver Canucks have been at the center of trade rumors around the league, especially in the month of January following a report from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman that said the team was exploring the market for J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson.
While trade rumors are just part of the business, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin feels bad for those on his team that have had to read them in the media.
On Monday, Patrik Allvin met with reporters in Vancouver for his midseason media availability where he spoke about a number of topics ranging from the team's inconsistent play, Brock Boeser's contract status and trade rumors surrounding certain members of the organization.
Allvin told reporters that his players have done well while dealing with trade speculation, while adding that he feels bad they have to read about those rumors.
Trade rumors are going to continue hovering over this team until the deadline in early March, with J.T. Miller the most likely player on his way out of Vancouver.
Brock Boeser is another option if they're unable to get a contract done with him before March 7th, rather than letting him walk for nothing in the offseason, they may as well get an asset at the deadline.
With just 46 days to go until the NHL's trade deadline for the 2025-26 season, expect action to pick up in the coming weeks and for the Vancouver Canucks to be in the thick of things.
