Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin met with reporters on Monday morning and gave an update on Rick Tocchet's future with the organization.
The Vancouver Canucks' season reach the halfway mark back on January 11th and many were wondering when we'd hear from General Manager Patrik Allvin for his midseason media availablilty.
On Monday morning, the Canucks' Public Relations account on social media announced that Allvin would be speaking with the media today and it comes at a time where the organization is potentially looking at moving on from star forward
J.T. Miller.
Trade rumors surrounding the Canucks were one of numerous topics Patrik Allvin was asked about by reporters, but one that really stood out was when he spoke about head coach Rick Tocchet.

With the Canucks' struggles of late, there have been several very vocal fans on social media wanting the team to go in a different direction behind the bench, but don't expect that to happen.
During his media availability today,
GM Patrik Allvin supported Rick Tocchet, saying that he's proud of how he's handled the season so far and that he sees him in Vancouver long-term, while acknowledging that a contract with him is a two-way street.
"I'm proud of how Rick has handled the season here," Allvin said.
"I do believe that he is a good coach and I see him [in Vancouver] long term."
"It's a two-way street there. Up to this point it hasn't been an urgency for us to do anything with a club option."
Since joining the Canucks in January 2023, Rick Tocchet has been behind the bench 163 games where he has a record of 90-50-23 and won the Jack Adams Award last season after leading the club to a first place finish in the Pacific Division.
Like Patrik Allvin said, there hasn't been an urgency regarding Rick Tocchet's contract and it wouldn't be a shock for them to wait and see how the rest of the season goes before deciding if they want to bring him back for the 2025-26 campaign.
