With Antti Raanta the only goaltender left on Carolina's roster, the Hurricanes have decided to dip into the free agent market and are bringing in a former Vancouver Canucks netminder.
In their post on X, the Hurrcanes announced that they've signed Jaroslav Halak to a professional tryout contract and will be with the team at practice on Monday.
Halak, 38, spent last season with the New York Rangers, appearing in 25 games as the backup to Igor Shesterkin. In those 25 games, Halak had a record of 10-9-5 with a 2.72 goals against average (GAA), a .093 save percentage and one shutout.
The Bratislava, Slovakia native was on the Canucks' roster during the 2021-22 season, but only played in 17 games before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
