Rod Brind'Amour's Carolina Hurricanes made a stop in Seattle on Saturday night for the fifth game of their six-game road trip and the team was on a roll. Heading into Saturday's game, Carolina had won three of the first four games on the trip.
Thanks to a multi-point effort by Seth Jarvis, the Hurricanes took down the Kraken by a score of 4-1. After the game is where things got a bit dicey as the team began their trek north to Vancouver.
The Hurricanes were forced to take a nearly three-hour bus ride to Vancouver from Seattle after their team's plane broke down, which led to a unique post-game meal experience.
Vancouver Canucks reporter Dan Murphy shared the details of Carolina's post-game meal experience in a thread on social media on Monday. Murphy said that because the team normally eats on the plane after a game, they needed to pivot and that's where veteran defenceman Brent Burns stepped up.
Burns decided to place an order on the McDonald's app for his teammates, which was rumoured, but not confirmed, to be 100 cheeseburgers. The team stopped in Everett, Washington to collect their order, only to find out they couldn't go into the store as only the drive-thru remained open.
Murphy says that Burns tried to walk through the drive-thru, which wasn't allowed by McDonald's employees. Burns then approached a driver and asked if he would take him through the drive-thru to get the team's order. The driver said yes, the Hurricanes got their order and continued their trip to Vancouver.
The Hurricanes arrived in Vancouver quite late and on Monday, wrapped up their road trip with 4-3 win over the Canucks, with Sebastian Aho picking up the overtime winner.
It's safe to say that this is a story the Hurricanes' players or that random driver won't forget for a very long time.
