MAJOR | Blackhawks prospect stretchered off the ice: Underwent surgery
The Chicago Blackhawks took on the Minnesota Wild in preseason action last night. At the 2:24 mark of the 2nd period, Blackhawks prospect, Sam Savoie, battled for position against a Wild player and fell into the boards hard.
Savoie, a Blackhawks 3rd round pick, was in extreme pain after the collision with the boards. Savoie was stretchered off the ice, giving fans a thumbs up as he left.
The 19-year-old had 59 points in 60 games with the Gatineau Olympiques. He was in his second camp with the Blackhawks since he was drafted in 2022.
Ben Pope, Blackhawks reporter, says that the Blackhawks announced that Savoie remains in Minnesota as they continue treatment. This is not positive news.
The Blackhawks and Savoie will hope that there is some positive news soon to come.
