The Florida Panthers have reportedly fired a staff member who leaked their center ice logo design before a reveal was planned by the team.

A new trend appears to be making its way around the National Hockey League this summer as ice is being installed at all 32 arenas. Instead of the circle at center ice being partly white with a smaller version of a logo inside, some teams, including the Vancouver Canucks, have decided to use up every inch of the circle with their logo and colours.

Another team that's gone in this direction is the Florida Panthers, although theirs is quite unique. A photo leaked on social media earlier this week which showed the Panthers' center ice design for the 2024-25 season.

This year's design at center ice was the Florida Panthers' primary logo surrounded by the inside of the bowl of the Stanley Cup, to mark their first championship in franchise history during the 2023-24 campaign.

According to Andy Slater of FOX 640, the employee that took the leaked image seen above has been fired from their role with the organization. The Panthers were planning to do an official unveiling for fans, likely on their social media, but it's doubtful it'll be as meaningful given it was leaked ahead of time.

"The employee who took this pic has been fired, multiple sources tell me.

The new center-ice logo, as seen below, was leaked on social media before the Florida Panthers planned to unveil it." Slater said.

It's understandable to see why the Florida Panthers decided to fire this individual as they'd be unlikely to trust them with any other special plans the organization has going forward.
