LATEST | Canucks linked to a huge six foot six defenceman: Allvin looking to add size?
Ever since Tocchet took over the Canucks' bench, there's been one objective in mind, and it's been to improve the team's defensive core and their strategy. The team was linked to a defenceman who could take the team further in retooling.
CANUCKS INTERESTED IN ANOTHER HUGE DEFENSEMAN?
The Flames may be about to pull the plug, but things have not gone their way, and with multiple contracts expiring at the end of this season, numerous names could be hitting the trade market, and the Canucks could be intrigued by some of them.
Vancouver Insider Rick Dhaliwal talked about it earlier today and drew an interesting link between the Canucks and one of the Flames' big, physical defenceman, Nikita Zadorov:
'Zadorov is a player I can see the Canucks having an interest in, either in free agency or at the deadline if he doesn't re-sign in Calgary...If he hits the market, I expect the Canucks to show interest.''
Zadorov isn't satisfied with the way things have been going in Calgary, and he didn't shy away from his thoughts this morning:
Zadorov, 28, was the Buffalo Sabres' 13th overall pick in 2013 draft. A large framed defenceman (6'6'' and 235 pounds), he's known for his mobility and his physicality:
Zadorov projects as a two-way, all-around defenseman. He has a hard shot from the point, lays open ice hits and uses his premier size all over the ice. He's an average skater but can rush the puck. (EP, 2013)
The Canucks already have a large-frame defenceman in Tyler Myers, but Zadorov is reasonably known for his ability to play the ''mean game,'' and it indeed is something the Canucks could use more of on their back end. It's built for the long playoff runs. Would a defenceman like Zadorov be an excellent addition to this team?
