In the days since, a few teams have been mentioned as interested in acquiring Conor Garland, including the Nashville Predators, Winnipeg Jets and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
On Monday morning, some new information came out regarding the Blue Jackets' interest in Conor Garland through the 32 Thoughts podcast with Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman.
Blue Jackets reporter Aaron Portzline was a guest on the podcast on Monday and mentioned that there have been plenty of conversations between Columbus and Vancouver, with former first-round pick Jack Roslovic being the center of those talks. Roslovic, 26, has a slightly lower cap hit than Conor Garland, sitting at $4 million, and is in the final year of his deal. Meanwhile, after this season, Garland has two more years left on his contract with a cap hit of $4.95 million.
Elliotte Friedman mentioned over the weekend that the Canucks are looking for a defenceman in return for a potential Conor Garland trade and reiterated that on Monday's podcast.
It'll be interesting to see where things go on the Conor Garland front over the next few weeks. As more and more teams get involved and show interest, it might not be long before Allvin and the Canucks move on from Garland.
