LATEST | J.T. Miller gives his take on the team's captaincy: Locker room bickering coming?
The news has yet to drop, but from all the rumblings coming around, it seems clear that the Canucks will eventually be naming Quinn Hughes as the team captain. Ever since Rick Tocchet, it's been clear he was his top guy, and the latest conversations confirm it.
One of the players that was, or is, in contention for the role, J.T. Miller, was allowed to comment on the subject, and his reactions could mean that locker room bickering is just around the corner. In an interview, Miller revealed that it didn't matter who wore the 'C'' from his standpoint; it was his room regardless.
Already known to be a super competitive guy, could he also try and undermine the captain? In a room filled with younger guys, where the two other candidates for captainship are Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson, both known to be soft-spoken, could Miller choose to take charge regardless of who bears the 'C''?
Hopefully, for the Canucks, Miller finds his place in the locker room, and he and the team can take the following stride in their development. Miller's improvement under Tocchet indicates that it's not impossible to turn a boat around mid-season, and we're now hopeful that the ship can take the right direction this year.
