LATEST | NHL issues a release of Canucks defenceman Quinn Hughes
Vancouver Canucks defenceman Quinn Hughes is poised for a big season and could put himself into the Norris Trophy conversation once again, if he's able to replicate or even top what he did during the 2022-23 campaign.
Speaking of what he did during the 2022-23 season, the National Hockey League released a video which featured some of Hughes' top moments from last year, including a highlight reel goal against the San Jose Sharks.
Hughes went on to appear in 78 games for the Canucks last season and set new career-highs in assists and points, as well as plus/minus. In those 78 games, the 23-year-old had 76 points (seven goals, 69 assists), 34 penalty minutes and was a plus-15. There's no doubt that in 2023-24, if healthy, he can top the 80-point mark.
There's been a lot of talk in recent days regarding the Vancouver Canucks' captain vacancy, with speculation on Friday indicating that it will be Quinn Hughes to wear the 'C' on his chest starting this season. Hughes is certainly worthy of being the team's captain, but there are other candidates too, including Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller.
Do you think Quinn Hughes will set a new career-high in points during the 2023-24 season? Let us know your thoughts in the poll below!
