LATEST | NHL makes a release highlighting a historical moment for the Canucks and a former captain
The NHL public relations shared a post highlighting NHL legend Mark Messier's 600th career goal. Messier scored his 600th goal as a member of the Vancouver Canucks in 1998.
Messier is third all-time in points as he amassed 1887 points in his 25-year career. Messier joined the Canucks in his 19th NHL season. He would play three seasons there, recording 162 points in 207 games.
In his second season with the Canucks, Messier became the 10th player in history to score 600 goals. The Canucks took on the Florida Panthers, and Messier received a pass from Alex Mogilny from behind the net and quickly shot five-hole, beating Kirk Mclean for the milestone.
Messier would finish his career with 694 goals before retiring with the New York Rangers, where he had much of his playing success.
