LATEST | NHL makes a statement regarding Elias Pettersson
Thursday night's game against the San Jose Sharks was a blow out for the Vancouver Canucks and it marked the first time since the early 1990's that the team scored 10 or more goals in a single game.
Canucks forward Elias Pettersson was among one of several players on the roster that had a multi-point effort during the 10-1 win over San Jose, who have yet to win a game this season.
After recording three assists, the National Hockey League made a post on their Public Relations account on X highlighting Pettersson. In their post, they shared that Pettersson is only the eighth player since the 2000-01 season that has seven or more multi-point games in their team's first ten contests.
"The hot start continues for Elias Pettersson, who recorded his League-leading seventh multi-point game of the season."
The 24-year-old has had an incredible start to the 2023-24 season and is nearly a two-point-per-game player thus far. In ten games, he's recorded 19 points (five goals, 14 assists), no penalty minutes and is a plus-nine.
Pettersson, along with players like Quinn Hughes, Brock Boeser, J.T. Miller and Thatcher Demko, among others, have had great starts to the season and it's going to be interesting to see where this team goes over the next couple of months leading into 2024. The Canucks haven't made the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2020 and there's no doubt that Rick Tocchet's team is looking to change that and return to the postseason in the spring.
