Canucks GM, Patrik Allvin, has been working the phones to move out Conor Garland. One strategy they have in the trade talks is to save some cap space from resigning right-handed defenseman Ethan Bear.

On the Donnie & Dhali show, Rick Dhaliwal says, "...The Canucks want to clear some cap space...are they clearing the 1-top-2 million dollars in cap space for Ethan Bear?"

Dhali continues, "...I was told this morning the Canucks are still very much...interested in Ethan Bear...most likely...he (Bear) will sign in November. Bear still won't be ready to play until December..."

Ethan Bear played 61 games with the Canucks, recording 16 points and +6 in the 2022-23 season. Bear suffered a shoulder injury playing in the World Cup of Hockey that led to shoulder surgery, which Bear is still recovering from, with an estimated return date in December.

Allvin has been looking for a right-handed defenseman who can play alongside Quinn Hughes. Moving Garland in a deal that saves Cap could allow the Canucks to bring in Bear on a pro-rated deal.

Allvin will continue to monitor the trade opportunities for Garland as he continues to rebuild his defensive core.
