LATEST | Potential three-way trade shaping up involving the Canucks: The solution to moving Conor Garland?
There is no secret regarding the fact that Conor Garland has asked for a fresh start. With the tight cap currently affecting all 32 NHL teams, it's making things more complicated for Allvin to meet his winger's request.
There's been speculation around the fact that the strategy may be two involve a third team and the bases of a trade have risen from that idea:
The trade would have the Capitals trading Mantha to the Blackhawks and the Canucks trading Garland to the Capitals.
The Canucks part of that trade was left up for discussion. I guess that a right-handed defenseman would be the return for the Canucks.
The Blackhawks have a 30-year-old defenseman, Connor Murphy, who is a solid player and has had a tough start to the season. Murphy is a minute-eater who plays a solid two-way game. At his best, Murphy can impact both ends of the ice.
Talks are expected to pick up again once the NHL confirms next year salary cap, mainly due to the fact that Garland still has two more years to his contract.
