LATEST | Promising statement regarding Ilya Mikheyev: The best remains to be seen
Allvin made Ilya Mikheyev one of his first big moves as the Canucks' GM. The Russian winger showed lots of promises in his first season with the Canucks occupying a spot on one of the league's top 5-on-5 line with Elias Pettersson and Andrei Kuzmenko.
Despite suffering a season ending injury halfway through the season the winger was on pace for his career high in points as he stood at 28 in 46 games, his previous best was 32 in 53. Mikheyev will be a huge addition to Tocchet's arsenal since he plays a big and fast-paced game.
The journalists Jeff Paterson and Patrick Johnston were on Sekeres and Price earlier this week and held promising statements in regards to the big number 65:
Mikheyev's versatility will pay big when Tocchet assembles his line-up, he'll most likely match him up Pettersson and Kuzmenko due to the success they had, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he ended up playing on Miller's wing either.
Tocchet specifically asked that his players get to camp in a better shape with a high level conditionning. From what we've seen at the end of last year from his systems, matched to the players ability to play the game at a very high speed, the Canucks' top6 is going to be extremely fast and difficult to play against.
