LATEST | Rick Tocchet praises Elias Pettersson: Clearly shows why the Canucks can't afford to lose him
The Canucks have been excellent ever since Rick Tocchet took over the reins and were currently witnessing one the best season starts this franchise's seen in the last decade. The strategies and makeup of this line-up have said a lot about their successes, but certain players' input is hard to miss.
TOCCHET PRAISES ELIAS PETTERSSON'S VERSATILITY
Elias Pettersson has just been named last week's second star after he managed six points through two games against the Oilers, but the team's coach believes his superstar impact on the game goes beyond the points he puts on the board.
Tocchet stated that his star centerman game was among the best and drew comparisons to notable names such as Sidney Crosby and Steve Yzerman. Tocchet talked about him as a player who was ready to do what was needed to win at the highest level:
The Canucks later issued their post acknowledging his performances. After getting some votes for the Selke trophy, Pettersson is making a stronger case this year. Even though he's got six points through two games, all we hear about is how he handled Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl:
'Six points in two games and exceptional two-way play, EP40 is the
@NHL's second star of the week!''
With how Elias Pettersson has been handling himself lately, could he make a case for Frank J. Selke (Defensive Forward of the Year) and Art Ross (MVP)?
