The Conor Garland sweepstakes are underway after the Canucks allowed him and his agent to speak with other teams about a potential trade.
In recent days, Garland has been linked to multiple teams, but on Monday, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period named two new teams in the mix - the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks.
"The Nashville Predators, Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitals and Blue Jackets are some of the teams that have reportedly had conversations with the Canucks about Garland. While I don't believe the Jets are engaged in talks, you can add the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks to the mix of interested parties from what I have been told." Pagnotta said.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman mentioned over the weekend that the Canucks want to add a defenceman as part of the return in a Conor Garland trade. Furthermore, David Pagnotta reports that Nashville's Dante Fabbro and Columbus' Andrew Peeke have been brought up in trade talks.
"There are some discussions with Nashville centre around defenceman Dante Fabbro, a Vancouver native, while talks with the Blue Jackets are believed to involve blueliner Andrew Peeke."
Garland, 27, has two more years remaining on his contract after the 2023-24 season with a cap hit of $4.95 million. The Canucks want to clear $1-$2 million of Garland's salary, Elliotte Friedman said on Saturday, so it will be interesting to watch over the coming weeks if a deal gets done.
It was revealed that the Canucks were hoping to get this deal done in the incoming weeks. How long until Garland's wishes are finally granted?
