On the 'Donnie & Dhali' show on Friday, Don Taylor and Rick Dhaliwal talked about potential professional tryout targets for the Vancouver Canucks and who the team has been linked to the past little while.
Among the names mentioned were three-time Stanley Cup champion Phil Kessel, who Dhaliwal noted the Canucks aren't in the mix for, but did check in on him earlier this summer.
Adding Kessel to the Canucks, whether that be on a one-year contract or just a PTO would have been an interesting depth option and he has plenty of links to the team's current management and coaching staff from his time with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Two more names that were mentioned were Jujhar Khaira, who at the time of writing this has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with Minnesota, although nothing is official yet, and former Canucks defenceman Alex Edler, who wants to keep playing and isn't ready to hang up the skates.
Dhaliwal said that he doesn't believe the Canucks will have interest in bringing Alex Edler back to Vancouver, mainly given his age and that makes complete sense. The Canucks' defensive core is already jammed as it is, and it wouldn't be ideal to bring in a player like Edler, when there isn't any room on the back end.
Hypothetically, if the Canucks were to target one of Phil Kessel or Alex Edler for a PTO, who would you rather have? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
