The Vancouver Canucks played their final preseason game on Friday night at Rogers Arena against the Calgary Flames and came away with a 3-1 win.

Their final preseason game was an opportunity to see what their opening night lineup may look like. Still, unfortunately for the Canucks, they lost one of their defencemen to injury.

Late in the second period, Carson Soucy got tangled up along the boards with Flames forward Yegor Sharengovich and appeared to suffer a lower-body injury, potentially to his knee. However, it's unconfirmed now. After staying on the bench for a little bit, Soucy headed back to the Canucks' locker room and did not return.

Dr. Harjas Grewal, who gives his opinion on sports injuries on X, shared his thoughts on Carson Soucy, which doesn't sound optimistic.

"Likely MCL injury (time off depends on grade) for Soucy but can have associated torn ACL (6+ months) and meniscus (4-6 weeks if trimmed, 4+ months if repaired)

There is some stress to the medial ankle, so we cannot rule out a high ankle sprain.

Likely no clarity until MRI tomorrow," Grewal said.

Soucy and the Canucks are off until Wednesday, when they open the 2023-24 season against the Vancouver Canucks. There's a good chance Soucy will have an MRI on Saturday, and we'll find out more about his injury on Sunday or Monday.

If Soucy is out long-term, should the Canucks go out and trade for a defenceman or use someone from within Abbotsford? Please share your thoughts with us in the poll below.
