MAJOR | NHL issued a statement on captain Quinn Hughes: New franchise record
It was clear to everyone that the Canucks had landed an absolute beast of a hockey player when Quinn Hughes fell to the seventh rank during the 2019 Draft.
Ever since he's been nothing short of extraordinary; the defenceman has been improving every facet of his game, from what used to be a weak shot to the way he defends and wins his position battles. It's safe to say that the Canucks' captain is developing into an elite defender in every aspect of the game.
Since the season started, the Canucks have been hot, and the captain has been just as hot. An offensive force, Hughes leads the league in points among defensemen; he also owns a few Canucks' records and the points he added tonight have now helped write his name onto another category in the Canucks' history:
''Quinn Hughes became the first defenseman to hit 40 points this season. The @Canucks now have three players to reach the mark (also J.T. Miller & Elias Pettersson) the most among all teams.'' The game has not yet ended, but with two helpers in Nashville, he now has 41 points in 32 games and just about 60 minutes.
