The Vancouver Canucks are set to host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight and will be doing so with defenceman Erik Brannstrom and rookie forward Arshdeep Bains back on the National Hockey League roster.
In a social media post on Monday, the Canucks confirmed that Patrik Allvin has called up Brannstrom and Bains from the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks, although, they've likely remained in Vancouver given the amount of paper transactions involving the two over the last week.
As mentioned the over day, the constant sending down and calling up of Erik Brannstrom and Arshdeep Bains comes down to one thing - accruing cap space, which will benefit the Vancouver Canucks in a big way later in the season and their ability to add more pieces at the National Hockey League's trade deadline in early March.
In four games with the Vancouver Canucks this season, Arshdeep Bains has one goal - which is his first in the National Hockey League and was a big moment for the Surrey, British Columbia native.
As for Erik Brannstrom, a former first-round pick of the Vegas Golden Knights, he's also appeared in four games for the Canucks, tallying one assist, two penalty minutes and is a plus-four. The Canucks are liking what they're seeing from the Eksjo, Sweden native, so expect to see him in the lineup more often throughout the season.
It's unclear if Bains and/or Brannstrom will be in the lineup for tonight's game against the Carolina Hurricanes, so we'll have to wait and see what the team has planned for the two. Puck drop is set for 7 pm PT as the Canucks look for their fifth straight victory.
