Canucks lines revealed ahead of big game against the Edmonton Oilers
The Vancouver Canucks are in Edmonton tonight to take on the Oilers for a game with massive implications for the Pacific Division.
Several hours ahead of puck drop, the Canucks took to the ice at Rogers Place for their morning skate in preparation for the game and we now know the projected line-up, thanks to Thomas Drance of The Athletic.
"#Canucks took morning skate line rushes on Saturday in Edmonton as follows. Head coach Rick Tocchet isn't on the ice.
Suter-Miller-Boeser
Mikheyev-Pettersson-Höglander
Joshua-Lindholm-Garland
Podkolzin-Blueger-Lafferty
Hughes-Hronek
Soucy-Myers
Zadorov-Cole
Friedman-Juulsen"
Coming into Saturday's game, the Vancouver Canucks have the lead in the Pacific Division with a record of 48-22-9 through 79 games, good for 105 points. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers have a record of 48-24-6 through 78, which has them at 102 points, three back of the Vancouver Canucks. With only a few games to go and the Pacific Division title still up for grabs, tonight's contest is set to be an intense one.
According to Rob Williams, the Canucks can clinch the Pacific Division as early as Tuesday against the Calgary Flames, if they defeat Edmonton in any fashion tonight.
"#Canucks can't clinch the division tonight, nor can they lose their first place position.
BUT
A regulation loss would allow EDM to pass them by Monday with a win vs SJ.
A win of any kind would give VAN chance to clinch on Tuesday vs CGY." Williams said.
Puck drop for tonight's game between the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers on Hockey Night in Canada is set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET on Sportsnet.
