A few months back, the Canucks' superstar Swede inked the richest contract in franchise history. Then, it seemed like a steal, but despite Pettersson's limitless potential, due to his recent playoff struggle, many have begun to doubt his ability.

Rick Tocchet called him out following the Canucks' loss in game four. The team's pilot stated that he needed more than the 12 players to pull through and lose the 5 to 6-passenger who weren't pulling in the same direction. Elias Pettersson was finally made available to the press today, and the response he gave to the journalists was more than enough to leave everybody concerned.

The Canucks' number 40 was asked if he had any idea about what might've affected his game in the last three months and he had no answer. Some believed he might have been playing through an injury; some added that perhaps, playing with Nils Hoglander, Ilya Mikheyev, and Sam Lafferty wasn't helping him succeed. The Swede responded that, whether or not this was the issue, he could only focus on what he could and not who he had been playing with.

«I want to be the difference maker.»

🗣️ Elias Pettersson speaks with the media following last night's game versus the Oilers.

Through 10 playoff games in 2024, Pettey only produced a meager 4 points. With the series tied at 2, there couldn't be a better time for him to finally find his game and seal the deal for the Canucks. The Canucks have continually found a way to outplay the Oilers without their starting netminder and only two top-end offensive lines, what if Pettersson finally found his game and became the difference maker of this series?
