After what felt like a very long summer, the Vancouver Canucks will open up training camp in less than two weeks and are only 18 days away from their first preseason game where they'll take on the Seattle Kraken.
The Canucks' goaltending situation remains a bit of a question mark at this time. On Thursday, Arturs Silovs took to the ice after it was reported that he was dealing with inflammation in his knee. Having Silovs back on the ice is great news for the Vancouver Canucks heading into camp.
As for Thatcher Demko, a report came out earlier this week from Rick Dhaliwal saying that Thatcher Demko would be back skating and working out on the ice this week. While it's still unclear if he'll be good to go for training camp and preseason games, having Demko back on the ice is a big positive for the organization.
On Friday's edition of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman shared an update on Thatcher Demko, saying that the knee issue he has is something he'll need to learn to play with because it cannot be fixed by surgery.
This is obviously tough news to hear for any Vancouver Canucks fan, but while there may not be a surgery that can fix Thatcher Demko's knee issues, then they'll need to find some sort of treatment to help him deal with the pain and discomfort in order for him to keep playing.
Demko, 28, has two years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $5 million. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2026.
