Hockey Community Mourns the Loss of Beloved Player and Coach at 61

In some very sad news, the hockey world has once again lost another beloved member of the community as long-time coach and player Andrei Martemyanov, who passed away sadly at the age of 61.
After a famed 21 year professional hockey career, he transitioned into coaching where he was the main man behind the bench for the KHL's Amur Khabarovsk. Before Amur, Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg and HC Sibir in Russia's top hockey league.
In a sudden tragic passing, it was announced that he lost his life at the young age of 61 due to a stroke.
His team HC Amur Khabarovsk released a heartfelt statement, regarding the loss of their coach and the what he meant to the club.
His name will forever remain in the history of our club, and the years of his work in the team will be remembered as a period of bright victories and unforgettable emotions.
Martemyanov was a strong endorser and product of the lethal Russian style of hockey that was put on display in the during the 1970's and 80's, which was apparent in their victories against Canada and the USA in international tournaments.
Some notable career achievements was when Martemyanov would win the 1989 Winter Universiada in Bulgaria and the Soviet Championship League, where he'd win it all in 1984 with HC CSKA Moscow.
Following his playing career, Martemyanov would begin coaching, most notably as the head coach of Amur Khabarovsk 🇷🇺 (2016-2018, 2023-2024), Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg 🇷🇺 (2018-2020), and Sibir Novosibirsk 🇷🇺 (2021-2023) in the KHL.
