There was plenty of news to come from the Vancouver Canucks as they returned from the 4 Nations Face-Off break for their first practice, most notably an injury to Thatcher Demko.
Just before the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, Thatcher Demko got the start against the Toronto Maple Leafs, however, he was forced to leave with an injury, which at the time wasn't deemed to be serious by head coach Rick Tocchet.
Thatcher Demko is out week-to-week with lower-body injury
Despite Rick Tocchet saying that it didn't seem to be too serious a couple of weeks ago, Demko's injury hasn't gotten any better and now, he won't be joining the club on their upcoming five-game road trip starting Saturday in Vegas.
According to Thomas Drance of The Athletic, the Vancouver Canucks have confirmed that Thatcher Demko will be out week-to-week with a lower-body injury and will be reevaluated when they return from their road trip.
Drance added that a team spokesperson said that Thatcher Demko's injury is not to his knee, which he sustained in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and delayed his season debut until early December against the St. Louis Blues.
"Thatcher Demko (lower body) won't be making the upcoming road trip with the team, will be reevaluated when the #Canucks return from Seattle next weekend.
It's not the knee. Officially 'week-to-week', per team spokesperson." Drance said in a post on X.
Vancouver Canucks announce call-ups from Abbotsford (AHL)

"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Nils Aman, F Arshdeep Bains and D Elias Pettersson have been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL). G Arturs Silovs has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL) on emergency basis and G Nikita Tolopilo will join the team as a practice goaltender." the Canucks said.
