The wife of J.T. Miller Natalie Craig has appeared on a podcast recently to disclose the harsh realities of what it is like when a spouse is traded during the middle of a season.

In late January, the Canucks traded J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers after months a months of speculation due to the drama that affected the ability for Miller and Elias Pettersson to play with one another.

J.T. Miller's Wife reveals where she was at the time of the trade to the New York Rangers

Although the NHL is a business and NHL clubs makes decisions everyday in order for the good of the team, people forget that players are normal people with families that are affected by what happens on a day to day basis, it is just behind the scenes.
Natalie Craig opened up on the 'Never Offside podcast with Cat Toffoli and Julie Petry' that it was a less than ideal and uncomfortable time to find out that her husband was being dealt to the Rangers.
She was on a Canucks WAG's (wives and girlfriends of high-profile athletes) trip in whistler when Miller called her just moments before puck drop.
«We were at this place called Longhorns celebrating, champagne guns, the game was about to start, and I saw my phone ring, and I was like, 'oh no, it's like 10 minutes before the game starts, this is it.' I turned my phone towards the girls, and you could see everybody's face [drop]. So I stepped out, he said, 'I just got traded,' talked to his agent, came back in and had a few cocktails, to say the least.»

Although it was not a total blindside, she spoke about how tough of a situation it was to be in a room filled with people she got close to while Muller played for the Canucks.
But that was all second to the feelings she had towards another wife on the team who was indeed blindsided that her significant other was traded.
«One of the other girls' significant others also got traded. She wasn't expecting it; I felt so bad for her, so I immediately just problem-solved it. I was like,' You can live in our house in Pittsburgh, it's fine, you can just live in our house.' She texted me in the morning like, 'I know we were really drunk last night, but can I actually do that?' and I was like, 'Yeah, it's no problem.'»

As stated, her appearance on the podcast gave hockey fans a unique behind the scenes look into how the business of the NHL can affect friends and families when a player is traded to a new city.
