The son of former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa will be continuing his hockey career in British Columbia next season.
Kevin Bieksa enjoyed
plenty of success in British Columbia during his ten seasons with the Vancouver Canucks and now his son will have his opportunity to make a name for himself in the province.
Cole Bieksa, son of Kevin, signs contract with BCHL's Coquitlam Express
In a social media post on Friday morning, the Coquitlam Express, a junior team in the British Columbia Hockey League, announced that they've signed forward Cole Bieksa to a contract for the 2025-26 season.
"Express General Manager Tali Campbell has announced the signing of 2007-born forward Cole Bieksa for the 2025-26 Season.
Welcome to the Express family, Cole!" the Express said on X.
Coquitlam Express General Manager Tali Campbell commented on the signing of Cole Bieksa, saying that they believe he's a player with a ton of upside and plays a 200-foot game.
"He is a tenacious player with a lot of upside. He's a full 200-foot player who can score goals and make plays but he's also very defensively sound." Campbell said.
Bieksa, 17, has spent the last four seasons in California playing for the Fairmont Prep program and in 2024-25, he's taken his game to a whole other level.
In 43 games with their high school team, Bieksa has 46 points (24 goals, 32 assists) and 61 penalty minutes, while adding 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 12 games with their under-18 AAA squad.
The Coquitlam Express have done a great job at producing NHL talent over the years including Alex Kerfoot, Andrew Ladd, Kyle Turris, Brad Hunt, among others and will enter their 25th anniversary season in 2025-26 looking for their first championship since 2014.
