LATEST | Canucks release a statement regarding Quinn Hughes
While Monday's game was an ugly affair for the Canucks allowing 10 goals against the Minnesota Wild, it continued an excellent season for Quinn Hughes.
With two assists against the Wild, Hughes passed Doug Lidster to move into sole possession of 5th place all-time in points by a Canucks defenceman.
At just 24 years of age and exactly 100 points back of franchise leader Alex Edler, it's hard to imagine a future where Quinn Hughes does not end up in the top spot.
In fact, the Canucks captain could reasonably overtake 1st place before the end of next season, potentially grabbing that top spot from Edler with roughly 500 fewer games played under his belt.
Hughes needs just 13 more points to move into third place, and an additional 4 points to take 2nd place.
If he stays healthy and keeps anywhere near his current pace, Hughes should handily move into second place all time before the season ends.
