LATEST | Patrik Allvin announces roster movement regarding Canucks' top prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki
Vancouver Canucks fans can get excited with the most recent news on top prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki.
On Monday, the Vancouver Canucks announced on their social media accounts that forward Jonathan Lekkerimaki has been assigned to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks from his Swedish Hockey League club Orebro HK.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Jonathan Lekkerimäki has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL) from Orebro HK (SHL)." The Canucks said.
Lekkerimaki's stay in North America this season may not be very long as last week it was reported by Rick Dhaliwal that he may only be here for eight-to-ten days before returning to Sweden to prepare for the 2024 IIHF World Championship in Czechia.
The 19-year-old appeared in 46 games this season for Orebro HK of the Swedish Hockey League where he had 31 points (19 goals, 12 assists), ten penalty minutes and was a plus-six. He went on to add one assist in three games as his team lost in the opening round Lulea HF.
Lekkerimaki, a native of Tullinge, Sweden, will have his first opportunity to play for the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks on Friday night as they head to Colorado for a back-to-back against the Eagles.
