The Canucks most important free agent in 2023-24 is slated to be Filip Hronek.

The 26 year old defenceman has been a perfect fit in his first full season with the Canucks after he was acquired from Detroit for first and second round draft picks.

He is enjoying a career season with the Canucks, and as such he's looking to get paid.

While the Canucks are reluctant to pay him more than Captain Quinn Hughes, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli says that shouldn't be the deciding factor.

He told Sekeres and Price that he thinks Hronek deserves credit for being the missing piece that has pushed Vancouver's group over the top.

The Canucks had an engine, to me Hronek has been the jet fuel to help that take off.

Seravalli said while the bottom six and other defence additions help, Hronek is by far the most impactful.

While it's more than the team might like to pay, Seravalli says they should just suck it up and get it done.
