MAJOR | Washington Capitals cause a surprise and place top end centerman on waivers
It's been an eventful last couple of years for the Russian centerman Evgeny Kuznetsov. After he helped the Capitals win the Stanley Cup, the centerman has gone off the rails.
The NHLPA Player Assistance Program just announced that he had been cleared to return to action. However, it seems the Capitals have had enough and they have placed him on waivers:
Washington has put Kuznetsov on waivers
Kuznetsov currently carries a $7.8M AAV through the end of the 2024-2025 campaign. Known to be an exciting player on the ice, he hadn't been as good in the latter years.
The former 1st Round Selection collected 55 points through 81 games last year and has managed 17 through 43 this year.
