Miller shares details of how he bonds with his teammates on the road
NHL teams are often on the road and, more often than not, for long periods. J.T. Miller revealed how he bonded with his teammates while on the road.
Playing professional sports can be highly stressful, and it's always important to find time to wind down and enjoy time with your teammates. In a recent interview, Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller shared how he spends his time with teammates on the plane and revealed that he has a movie club with Thatcher Demko, Brock Boeser and Tyler Myers.
"I sit with Mysie now." Miller said. "I used to play cards, but I don't do that anymore because I can't handle it. I like sitting with Mysie ,and we've got a movie club now , and it's great."
He added, "Mysie, Brock, Demmer, and I sit in a foursome, and we hit play together. We rotate who picks the movies. I didn't understand the gist of the club. I brought a terrible movie, and I learned quickly that it needed to be like a legitimate movie. Like above eight and a half movie."
It's great that the team is so tight-knit, both on and off the ice. Being able to do something such as forming a movie club or going out with your teammates for dinner or other activities will help create a strong bond. That bond has also translated to the ice, as the team plays well, and there isn't anyone on the roster that plays selfishly like an individual. Everyone on the roster is focused on getting the two points night in and night out and getting to the Stanley Cup Playoffs rather than their statistics.
Miller has taken his game a significant step forward this season, which is pretty essential given the money he's being paid in the first year of his new contract. As of Tuesday morning, Miller leads the Canucks in points and has recorded 91 (34 goals, 57 assists), 49 penalty minutes and is a plus-29 in 72 games.
