A new report has indicated that amid the Vancouver Canucks pushing for the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference, their top draft pick Tom Willander who could help their team greatly will not be joining them, at least right now.

The future is looking bright for the Vancouver Canucks as they have a slew of prospects in the pipeline that are currently playing in the NCAA, including teammates Tom Willander and Aiden Celebrini.

Tom Willander not planning to sign with Vancouver Canucks until NCAA tournament concludes

It was believed that once the Boston University Terriers' dreams at a Hockey East Title came to an end, top defense prospect Tom Willander was expected to sign with the Canucks to be a depth player for a potential playoff run.
Now we know, that is not going to be the case.
Willander, Celebrini and the BU Terriers now have an amazing opportunity to get some reconciliation in the NCAA National Tournament.
Due to the tournament, it is confirmed Willander will be staying at school until the conclusion of the event.
The good news is that that it is a single-elimination bracket where if BU loses to Ohio State in their first matchup on March 27th, he will be then available to join the Canucks.
Following a single-elimination format, one team will emerge victorious from each regional to advance to the coveted Frozen Four.
Over the last 2 seasons at BU, he has scored 6 goals and 41 assists in 72 games as well as representing his country of Sweden at the World Junior Championships, scoring 2 goals and 5 assists in 7 games.
