Noah Hanifin signs massive extension: New floor for Filip Hronek
The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Noah Hanifin to an eight year contract that will pay him $7.35 million per season.
Hanifin was acquired days ahead of the trade deadline from Calgary for a first-round pick, a conditional third, and Daniil Miromanov. While an extension was not part of the deal, it was believed that Hanifin could resign in Vegas.
The 27-year-old has 44 points this season between the Calgary Flames and Golden Knights, including a career-high 13 goals.
With the deal getting done, many fans have speculated that it sets the table for an extension between the Canucks and Hronek, given that Hanifin and Hronek have put up similar numbers this season.
Ultimately, it likely sets the floor for Hronek, who is a year younger and has RHD.
This contract could paint a clearer picture of what the Canucks would be looking at with Hronek long-term.
