As the Vancouver Canucks reach the half way point of the 2024-2025 NHL season, it has been reported that Vancouver Canucks star Brock Boeser is not close to resigning a contract with the team.
At the end of this NHL season, Vancouver Canucks top goal scorer and All-Star Brock Boeser will be looking for a contract that will call for a significant upgrade, but it was believed that a deal should be signed sooner than that.
Brock Boeser Not Close to Resigning Contract with the Vancouver Canucks
Vancouver Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal reported today that the team and Brock Boeser have not engaged in any contract talks recently.
If the two parties do not come to an agreement on a new deal by July 1st, 2025,
Boeser will have the freedom to engage in talks and negotiations with any team in the NHL as a unrestricted free-agent.
«Very quiet on the Boeser front, not hearing of any hot and heavy talks as of late, lots of work to do before a deal gets done,» said CHEK's Rick Dhaliwal on Donnie & Dhali.
Brock Boeser currently is making an annual average value (AAV) of $6.65 million, and by scoring 40 goals for the first time last year, the team has elected to wait out this season to see if he can repeat the same dominant performance.
TSN's Darren Dreger reported that Boeser is not in any hurry to sign a contract but there is a strong possibility that the future of Rick Tocchet as the head coach will play a major role in if he stays or goes.
"I think that has an influence, it's a factor. I wouldn't say it's the reason he stays or leaves but it's a factor...I don't think he's (Boeser) in any hurry to re-sign"
