Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet was pleased with his team's effort despite their loss to the Calgary Flames.

The Vancouver Canucks headed to Calgary on Saturday night for their second game in as many days, but it didn't go as the team had hoped.

While Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Aatu Raty got the Canucks on the board, the Flames would go on to take the game by a score of 4-2, with Dan Vladar and Devin Cooley, combining for the win.

After the game, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet met with reporters and was quite pleased with the team's effort on Saturday night despite the loss, but admitted that they need to clean up some aspects of their game going forward.

"Well they had four goals from point shots, a couple deflections, so we've got to clean up that. I actually liked the effort. We had some young guys in the lineup and I thought they did well and we had some chances there. But like I said, we've got to clean up a little more digging in the corners and clean up in front of our net." Tocchet said.

When asked what he wants to see cleaned up for tomorrow's game in Edmonton, he added, "Yeah, probably net front, play a little bit quicker, we'll get some bodies in the lineup. But right now, like I said, you're evaluating certain players, you're evaluating how they do things in the system. But like I said, maybe a little grittier in the corners and more gritty in front of the net and we'll be okay."

As we enter the final week of the preseason, the Canucks' coaching and management staffs are going to have some tough decisions to make on the team's opening night roster. There have been several young guys, particularly Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Aatu Raty, who have played very well in the preseason to this point and it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if they're named to the opening night roster in a week.

The Canucks will be back in action on Monday night as they head to Rogers Place to take on the Edmonton Oilers. Puck drop is set for 6 pm PT and can be viewed nationally across Canada.
