The issues between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson has been well documented, but the dislike for one another has now reached a new level, ultimately costing the Vancouver Canucks games.

When J.T. Miller took his leave of absence from the Vancouver Canucks, the reason behind it is still not clear, but the speculation surrounds the his relationship with Pettersson and the rest of the team.

Between those 10 games from November 19 and December 12, 2024, Elias Pettersson recorded 2 goals and 13 assists got 1 points, seeming to perform well as the top forward with out Miller.

Now, with Miller making his return in the last 4 games, Pettersson has not been himself, going pointless in this stretch.

J.T. Miller's Dislike For Elias Pettersson is costed the Vancouver Canucks a win against the Utah Hockey Club

With Miller and Pettersson not being able to get a long, head coach Rick Tocchet has even decided to separate them on the powerplay for two straight games.

«It's just something we've all talked about, Millsy and the other unit knew what was going on so there was nothing to that,» said Tocchet.

But the accumulation of the drama came to the forefront when the Canucks went to overtime against Utah.

When Miller took the ice in overtime, he made the ultimate decsion of selfishness, and to not change when he should have, staying out there on tired legs while Pettersson was waiting to tap in.

This selfishness led to a turnover and the inability to backcheck sufficiently, leading to the game winning goal.

Miller's final shift in OT lasted a 1:13. it is understandable that he wants to end the game, but that is way too long especially at the pace overtime was played at.

These issues need to be ironed out now, Miller has only been back 4 games and it is apparent that Pettersson and himself can't work alongside one another.
