The Athletic Shares Their Grades For Vancouver Canucks Forwards In October
The Athletic has released their report card grades for each member of the Vancouver Canucks forward group in the month of October.
As we turn the page to November and the second month of the National Hockey League's 2024-25 season, it's time to reflect on how the Vancouver Canucks have performed in October.
In the month of October, the Vancouver Canucks went 4-2-3 through nine games, good enough for third in the Pacific Division and seventh in the Western Conference. In those nine games, the Canucks have managed to score 27 goals, while allowing 31.
Brock Boeser, who has nine points in nine games to start the season and Conor Garland, were both given an 'A' grade by Dayal and Drance.
"Through the club's first nine games, Boeser has the second-highest five-on-five shot rate of his NHL career. He leads the team in primary points at five-on-five and in individual expected goals.
Playing on Miller's wing in a top-of-the-lineup role, Boeser has held his own defensively. He's also successfully built on his two-way improvement and enhanced playmaking ability and maintained his level from last season through the first month of a key contract year." Dayal and Drance said.
After a tough start to the 2024-25 season, Elias Pettersson was given the lowest grade by Thomas Drance and Harman Dayal, which was a D-. The pair say that the noise surrounding his struggles will only get louder if it drags on and that his speed burst, as well as shot velocity are both down when compared to the 2023-24 campaign, adding that physically, he doesn't look right.
Let's take a look at Dayal and Drance's full list of their grades for Vancouver Canucks forwards:
