The Canucks have been juggling with the idea that their season may start without their star netminder Thatcher Demko.

Recent reports confirmed the netminder wasn't expected to be a part of the team's training camp and that Patrik Allvin was currently working the phones, hoping to find someone who could fill in during his absence. After a successful stint between the Canucks' pipe during the playoffs, Arturs Silovs will be the man leading the Orcas onto the ice.

Finally, good news for the Canucks

Satiar Shah appeared on Sportsnet650 earlier today and shared new information on Demko's situation. While we know the netminder is currently dealing with a severe injury, the only timetable for now was a potential return near the team's regular season debut.

Shah updated on the team's current state of mind and confirmed that there was no panic on the Canucks' part that Thatcher Demko would be for the entirety of the 2024-2025 season.

There isn't a panic in the organization that Demko is out for the season or anything like that.

The team is confident that Demko will return during the season. Given that Allvin has been shopping for a veteran to land a hand with Silovs, it isn't a matter of days or weeks but most likely months.

In the Canucks' situation, would they be better off playing Silovs and having Jiri Patera back him up during that time? Or should they play it safe and sign an experienced and seasoned vet to sit by Silovs' side while Demko rehabs?
