TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger has given a big update on the contract offer that was made by the Vancouver Canucks to pending unrestricted free agent Brock Boeser.

Last week, it was reported that the Vancouver Canucks made a contract offer to Brock Boeser in the range of five-years at $8 million annually, which was turned down by the pending UFA as he's seeking more term.

Darren Dreger gives update on contract offer to Brock Boeser

In a post on X on Monday morning, TSN insider Darren Dreger revealed that the five-year, $40 million contract the Vancouver Canucks offered to Brock Boeser earlier this season is no longer on the table.
Dreger also said that Patrik Allvin and the Canucks are considering all their options with the 28-year-old, including the possibility of a trade, which has been explored.
"The Canucks continue to consider all options with Brock Boeser. Vancouver did make an extension offer in the first half of the season, but it's not believed to be on the table any longer. Obviously, trade possibilities are being explored." Dreger said.
While Brock Boeser's production might not be on par with what he did during the 2023-24 season, where he registered 40 goals and 73 points, the Burnsville, Minnesota native would be a great middle-six scoring option for contending teams around the league.
In recent weeks, Boeser has been linked to a number of teams in the NHL including the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights by Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff as well as the Ottawa Senators by Elite Prospects' Cam Robinson.
Boeser is currently on pace for 25+ goals this season and after his performance during the Stanley Cup Playoffs last spring, putting up 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in 12 games, he could net Patrik Allvin a very good return with it being a sellers market at the deadline this year.
In 53 games with the Canucks this season, Boeser has tallied 36 points (18 goals, 18 assists), 16 penalty minutes and is a minus-19.
