With only four days left until the National Hockey League's trade deadline for the 2024-25 season, a new name has emerged as a possibility for Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks.

During the Saturday Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada this past weekend, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Vancouver Canucks are looking to add a forward to their NHL roster and there are numerous options available to them leading up to the deadline on Friday.

Vancouver Canucks linked to former first-round pick Alex Tuch

In an article on The Fourth Period last night where they took a look at forward options for the Vancouver Canucks, the team was linked to former first-round pick Alex Tuch of the Buffalo Sabres, who's in the midst of his third straight 20+ goal campaign.
"It is unclear whom the Canucks may be targeting, but the team has been linked to such players as Dylan Cozens and Alex Tuch of the Buffalo Sabres, Jared McCann of the Seattle Kraken and Trent Frederic of the Boston Bruins, among others, although Frederic is playing on an expiring contract."

Tuch, 28, would bring plenty of experience, including 66 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and scoring prowess to the Vancouver Canucks lineup, likely in a second line role.
The Syracuse, New York native also has some snarl to his game as he isn't afraid to throw a big hit or drop the mitts to swing the momentum back into his team's favour.
That's exactly what the Vancouver Canucks need right now, especially after Kevin Bieksa said on Saturday night that they're not a hard team to play against.
"It's not a hard team to play against right now. You look at their coaching staff with Tocc and Footer - who had a ton of bite - and it's hard right now, when you have a team with some good players but not a lot of bite. Got a lot of stick checkers out there." Bieksa said.

Tuch has one year remaining on his contract following the 2024-25 campaign with a cap hit of $4.75 million, which is more than manageable for Patrik Allvin and the Canucks with the league's salary cap increasing to $95.5 million USD.
The cost to acquire Alex Tuch might be high and there isn't much of a rush on the Buffalo Sabres' side of things to move him by Friday as this could get punted to the summer or even next season's trade deadline.
