Vancouver Canucks Rookie Linus Karlsson Scores First NHL Goal-But the Celebration Gets Awkward
The Vancouver Canucks continued their road trip last night in Nashville and there was a special moment for one rookie forward, which turned quite awkward.
Awkward moment occurs following Linus Karlsson's first NHL goal
It's been quite the path to the National Hockey League for Linus Karlsson, who was drafted by the San Jose Sharks nearly seven years ago - 87th overall in 2018.
Less than a year after being drafted, Karlsson was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Jonathan Dahlen, but remained in Sweden until 2022 when he made the jump to North America with the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks.
The 25-year-old played a big role in Vancouver's victory in Nashville last night, scoring his first career National Hockey League goal, which stood as the game-winner.
After the goal was scored and his teammates were celebrating with him, an awkward moment happened as linesman Bryan Pancich attempted to hand the puck to one of the Vancouver Canucks players on the ice.
Every player skated by Pancich, including
Nils Hoglander,
Elias Pettersson and
Tyler Myers before the linesman goes over to the penalty box and gives the puck to one of the official scorers, likely to swap it out for another one.
Thankfully after the game, the puck made its way to the Vancouver Canucks' dressing room where Linus Karlsson posed for a picture with it and that goal will be a memory he won't forget for the rest of his life.
The Vancouver Canucks have now won three straight games for the first time since early November and will look to extend that to four games, and sweep their road trip, on Friday night as they take on the Dallas Stars.
Puck drop for tomorrow's game in Dallas is set for 5 pm PT and can be watch nationally across Canada on all Sportsnet channels.
