Former Vancouver Canucks forward Tanner Pearson had landed a new NHL contract.

After spending the majority of the summer without a contract, former Vancouver Canucks forward Tanner Pearson was able able to land a professional tryout (PTO) with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Pearson appeared in Vegas' first four games of the preseason and looked pretty solid, registering three points (two goals, one assist) and seven shots-on-goal.

Because of his strong play and the Golden Knights needing some forward depth, the former Stanley Cup champion has turned his professional tryout into a one-year contract worth $775,000, according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.

Pearson, 32, struggled with injuries and multiple surgeries to his hand during the latter stages of his time with the Vancouver Canucks. Last September, it appeared that Pearson was getting back to full health and ready to start the season in Vancouver, but just before training camp opened, Patrik Allvin shipped him to the Montreal Canadiens for goaltender Casey DeSmith.

In 54 games with the Canadiens last season, the Kitchener, Ontario native had 13 points (five goals, eight assists), 21 penalty minutes and was a minus-five.

Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy recently commented on having Tanner Pearson at the team's training camp and has been quite impressed with what he's seen so far.

"Tanner has done all the little things. He's a guy who has played in the league and he has some offense too," said Bruce Cassidy. "I've liked the way he's played and he is a character person as well."

Pearson will make his official debut with the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday, October 9th in their first game of the 2024-25 season against the San Jose Sharks.
